CEO and President

Robert “Rusty” P Turner, MD, MSCR, is the owner and CEO of Network Neurology in Charleston, South Carolina. He began this new endeavor with more than 16 years of faithful clinical work, teaching, and research at MUSC. He is a member of the Roper-St Francis Hospital System and an Associate Researcher with the MIND Research Institute in Irvine, California.

Dr. Turner maintains a full-time clinical, teaching, and neurophysiology practice with patients referred from throughout the southeastern regions of the United States. While working full time work at MUSC since 1997, he obtained a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Research (epidemiology and biostatistics) in 2003 through the MUSC College of Graduate Studies.

He has since then been actively involved in ongoing clinical research with collaborative studies in non-invasive neurostimulation and neuromodulation techniques, as well as advanced techniques of EEG source analysis.

Dr. Turner’s current clinical research in non-invasive neuromodulation involves collaborating with colleagues in Charleston, South Carolina; Cape Town, South Africa; Mexico City, Mexico; Beijing, China; and several other clinical research practices throughout the United States.

Dr. Turner started his college career as a music and foreign language major, and during medical school, he also pursued Master’s training in Piano Performance at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Graduate School. After Medical School, his postgraduate training consisted of internship and residency in Pediatrics; followed by two fellowships, one in Adult/Child Neurology, and the second in Clinical Neurophysiology/EMG/Neuromuscular Disorders; and his current clinical/research emphases of pediatric epilepsy/epileptogenesis, the non-linear effects of auditory and music stimulation on the brain, as well as neuromodulation techniques.

He continues to pursue his love of music and is an accomplished classical pianist. He has received numerous awards and honors at MUSC over more than 16 years of diligent, dedicated service, including multiple Faculty Excellence Awards for teaching, AREA Awards for excellence in ambulatory care, Golden Apple Nominations and Awards, and double honors in humanism with the AAMC Humanism in Medicine Award and the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.

Kira is one of our Neuromodulation Technicians here at Network Neurology. She has been with us since June of 2018. She graduated with a BS in Psychology. Her favorite thign about working here at Network Neurology is everything! “The staff is amazing and so are our patients. Everyone works together so well, and the lovely families who come here are fantastic as well.” In her free time she enjoys taking dance classes, going to the beach, and practicing her film photography.

Her favorite thing about working her is learning and getting to work with great people. In her free time she enjoys being outside and spending time with her daughter.

Ashley has been one of our Neuromodulation Technicians here at Network Neurology since November of 2017. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from SUNY College at Oneonta. She wholeheartedly believes in the mission of this practice and loves seeing it continue to help individuals. “I feel blessed to work with such a wonderful team of people, who I look forward to seeing each day.” During her free time she enjoys traveling, reading, exercising, spending time with family, and any outdoor activity.

Her favorite thing about working at Network Neurology is getting to spend time with and getting to know the patients. When she isn’t working, she likes to spend time with family, work out, and follow Clemson sports.

Amanda is one of our Neuromodulation Technicians. She has been here at Network Neurology since November of 2017. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Emory & Henry College. She loves having the opportunity to work alongside incredible people who are committed to helping families gain a sense of relief knowing their children are being treated effectively and with great care. When she is not at Network Neurology she likes to spend her free time at the beach or at home playing with her cat Matilda.

Matt is our Neuromodulation and Neurodiagnostic Manager. He began working here at Network Neurology in January of 2016. He graduated from Northeastern University. His favorite thing about working at Network Neurology is the atmosphere, the patients, their families, and Dr. Turner. In his free time he enjoys watching sports, golf, and softball.

Charles works as our Billing Manager here at Network Neurology. He started working here in July of 2018. What he loves most about working here is that he “could not ask for better, friendlier work associates.” In his free time Charles likes to spend his weekends during the summer outside on his boat with friends and in the woods during the fall and winter. He also enjoys playing golf, cooking, and training his dog.

When she’s not studying, she enjoys reading, playing the piano, and attending church activities.

Katie is currently serving as our COO although she has had on-the-job training in most administrative positions here. She has been working at Network Neurology since the practice was still a dream of Dr. Turner’s. What she enjoys most about Network Neurology is that it “offers hope and answers for patients who haven't found them elsewhere - answers that really make a difference in their lives. It's very rewarding to be a part of that. Plus, we have a great team - lots of good energy and laughter!” When she is not working she loves to read, cook, walk on the beach, and spend time with her grandchildren.
